UCM's Founder: Bonnie

Bonnie Salas founded and created United Conservation Mariners (UCM). This Texas cowboy turned professional aquanaut always had a taste for adventure. His Native American background along with his passion for the ocean led him to follow a path of coral, sea turtle, and shark conservation around the globe. His connection with aquatic life and the underwater world is unlike anything seen before. He believed that all people regardless of age, socioeconomic background, or race deserve to experience the wonder and healing power of the ocean.

In recent years, he became a swim instructor, free diver instructor, and scuba instructor. His philosophy was to introduce the ocean and conservation to all, especially the youth, so we can inspire the next generation of divers to continue conserving our reefs. Bonnie grew up working hard for every dollar he made at a young age and did not experience diving until he had the opportunity to get scuba certified through a veterans program in Fort Lauderdale. The scuba world has become all too expensive, like skiing.

Bonnie’s dream was to provide quality swim, free dive, and scuba instruction at an affordable rate so that everyone can fall in love with the ocean the way he did. In recent years, he became a swim instructor, free diver instructor, and scuba instructor.
